We are a passionate, indie game development team working on an exciting sci-fi shooter prototype. Our project combines innovative gameplay mechanics with immersive storytelling, and we’re seeking talented individuals to help bring this vision to life.

We’re seeking a Real-Time VFX Intern to help bring our powers, combat effects, and screen impacts to life.

🎮 Role Overview:

As an Intern Real-Time VFX Artist, you will collaborate with the art and design teams to create dynamic, real-time visual effects in Unreal Engine. You’ll be responsible for power activation effects, enemy impact visuals, and first-person screen effects, helping to shape the game’s visual identity.

🎮Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement real-time VFX for elemental powers (fire, water, lightning, earth, wind).
• Create impact effects on enemies (burning, electrocuting, freezing, etc.).
• Develop first-person screen effects when players are hit (blur, distortion, elemental overlays).
• Use Unreal Engine’s Niagara system to build particle systems and simulations.
• Optimize VFX performance to maintain smooth gameplay.
• Collaborate with animators and designers to integrate VFX with gameplay.
• Participate in team reviews to receive feedback and iterate on effects.

🎮Qualifications

• Experience with UE Niagara, personal projects, coursework, or game jams welcome.
• Experience with UE Particle system personal projects, coursework, or game jams welcome.
• Familiarity with Photoshop or Substance Designer for creating VFX textures.
• Basic understanding of materials and shaders in Unreal Engine.
• Strong creativity and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a collaborative environment.
• Bonus: Familiarity with Houdini or other procedural VFX tools is a plus.

🎮 Note on Compensation:
