JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for all aspects involved in the Ultrasound department to include performing all routine diagnostic ultrasound procedures. Assists physicians in performing invasive Ultrasound procedures. Responsible for evaluating appropriate ultrasound technique and proper selection and utilization of ultrasound probes. Ensures comprehensive ultrasound imaging of the appropriate anatomical structures as per the physician’s order and the Radiologist's protocols. Performs all ultrasound procedures under the indirect supervision of the Radiologist. 

QUALIFICATIONS

• OB and General exams
• BLS, AART, CRT, ARDMS licensure required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Under the indirect supervision of the Radiologist, performs the full range of diagnostic Ultrasound procedures as per the established Radiologist protocols. Assist physicians with invasive US biopsy procedures.
2. Performs and evaluates ultrasound images exams, providing accurate documentation and images of procedure(s) results. Communicates pertinent information to the Radiologist regarding the procedure & findings.
3. Demonstrates competence in utilizing all imaging support equipment to include transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, RIS, and PACS systems.
4. Maintains inventory of all required procedure supplies & when running low, informs the manager for monthly orders
5. Maintains exam rooms, patient’s waiting room and work area in clean, orderly, and safe condition.
6. Comprehensively explains the ultrasound process and procedure to the patient and answer questions the patient has regarding the procedure to alleviate any patient anxiety – do not give the patient a diagnosis or answer questions that should be answered by a physician
