A Day in the Life of a Senior Piping Designer

In this role, you'll be responsible for creating detailed piping designs, layouts, and isometrics using 2D and 3D CAD software like AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and CadWorx . Working closely with engineers and project stakeholders, you'll ensure designs comply with industry codes and client specifications. Your expertise will directly contribute to the success of critical projects, including those in the oil, gas, and power sectors.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop detailed piping layouts and drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Plant 3D, CadWorx).
• Create piping isometrics, orthographics, and construction drawings, ensuring accuracy and precision.
• Generate material specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and other necessary documentation.
• Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards, such as ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to ensure designs meet process and safety requirements.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements to incorporate the latest design technologies.
• Participate in design reviews and client presentations, effectively communicating technical concepts.
• Review and check drawings for compliance with project requirements and quality standards.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Associate's degree or technical diploma in drafting or engineering technology.
• 10+ years of experience in piping design for industrial facilities (oil & gas, chemical, power, etc.).
• Expert proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and CadWorx.
• Strong understanding of piping codes and standards (ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, etc.).
• Knowledge of piping stress analysis principles and software is a plus.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel for work approximately 25% of the time.
• Ability to be onsite 80-90% of the time, with limited remote flexibility.
