Sous Chef – Multiple Opportunities

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Sous Chef for one of three outlets. We are seeking an experienced and energetic Sous Chef to help lead our fast-paced, high-volume team. This role supports daily back-of-house operations, ensures consistent food quality and speed of service, and provides strong leadership for a team handling Italian, Tex/Mex, or a steakhouse. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, leads by example, and maintains high standards in cleanliness, safety, and execution.

Must be available for nights, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily prep, service, and closing operations in a high-volume concession setting
  • Lead the BOH team in executing standardized recipes and prep across multiple stations
  • Monitor speed of service, ensuring quick ticket times and consistent product quality
  • Uphold cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards always
  • Assist in staff scheduling, labor control, and daily deployment based on business volume
  • Maintain accurate prep pars, reduce waste, and control food costs
  • Communicate clearly with FOH and expo to ensure guest satisfaction and order accuracy
  • Support onboarding and training of new cooks and leads
  • Step in for the Chef when needed, including supervising the line and communicating with leadership

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–3 years of culinary experience in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen
  • 1+ year in a supervisory or lead cook role preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tickets and tasks with urgency and attention to detail
  • ServeSafe or equivalent food safety certification preferred
  • Flexible availability including weekends and holidays
  • Strong understanding of FIFO, basic food costing, and prep management
