KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Product Metallurgist is a newly created role, ideally suited for someone who is results-driven, detail-oriented, customer-focused and enjoys a technical approach to problem-solving. The role of a Product Metallurgist at the Company is key in driving optimization and working alongside operators and operational leaders. This position touches all aspects of the plant facility and will play a vital supportive role in both production and commercial operations.

Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Act as a product metallurgist, making grade or product recommendations to customers, and then optimizing the processing of those grades or products in the plant;
• Propose novel metallurgical solutions to new end-use applications in the aerospace, oil and gas, fuel cell, automotive and industrial markets;
• Act as technical liaison between sales, production, and the customer;
• Author technical reports on project-based work;
• Review customer requirements and determine compatibility with plant capabilities;
• Participate in customer trials;
• Develop novel applications and capabilities as needed;
• Assist sales in the development of new market opportunities;
• Perform metallurgical testing as required.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of experience in a metallurgy-focused position;
• B.S. Engineering minimum required (metallurgical, materials engineering, etc.); Master’s and/or other secondary education preferred;
• Possesses a good understanding and familiarity with the physical metallurgy of stainless steels, nickel-based alloys, and titanium;
• Strong Work Ethic and a Good Attitude;
• Ability to use modern data analytical techniques;
• SAP knowledge a plus;
• Interact well with hourly operators and build relationships within the work team. Establish a strong shop floor presence;
• Very capable of professional collaboration across the local department and the global organization.
