Job Description and Responsibilities

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our dynamic manufacturing team in our Portland, Oregon location. The successful candidate will resolve process and product quality problems to prevent reoccurrence and to facilitate the management of customer complaints through effective internal and customer communication. This individual will work with the Quality and Operations teams on day to day quality management improvements and the divisional quality team on broader issues.

  • Ensures compliance with safety standards, including adherence to all workplace safety rules and regulations and proper use of PPE
  • Coordinates with Operations, Engineering, and Customers to support program launch and PPAP process
  • Maintains the QMS and control system documents (e.g. control plans)
  • Leads corrective action efforts for customer, supplier, and internally identified quality complaints
  • Standardizes work instructions, control systems, and traceability systems to improve manufacturing operations
  • Conducts root cause analysis for deviations and defects
  • Coordinates external audits and conducts internal quality related department audits
  • Develop and implement quality changes and process improvements
  • Maintains calibration records and monitors the timeline for calibration activities
  • Must be proficient at using micrometers, gauge blocks and other calibration equipment

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Metallurgical or Materials Engineering preferred, or equivalent technical degree or experience required
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of work experience in a high volume manufacturing facility
  • Proficient in the use of computers and technology and database management
  • Ability to practice analytical decision making to secure relevant information, identify key issues, proposed solutions, and establish timelines for implementation
  • Ability to prioritize customer needs, consistency deliver exceptional service, actively listen to feedback, and resolve issues promptly and correctly
  • Ability to ensure that products meet the company’s established quality standards through methods such as monitoring and inspecting materials and improving quality assurance policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Six-Sigma application and output
  • Travel as required
