Job Description

The Welder Lead Hand is responsible for leading and assisting the welding team in daily production tasks while actively participating in welding activities. This hands-on leadership role ensures that welding operations are completed efficiently, safely, and according to quality standards. The Welder Lead Hand supports the Shop Manager by coordinating welding activities, providing technical guidance, and helping maintain an organized and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, guide, and mentor welders in daily work assignments to meet production schedules.
• Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Inspect welds to ensure quality standards and tolerances are met.
• Assign tasks to welding personnel based on project priorities and individual skill levels.
• Assist in training new employees on welding techniques, safety procedures, and company standards.
• Monitor welding consumables and material usage; coordinate with supervisors for replenishment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized welding area.
• Assist in troubleshooting welding issues and recommending solutions.
• Communicate project status, issues, and needs to the Shop Manager.
• Support fabrication, fitting, and assembly activities as required.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and welding codes.
