About my client

My client is a fast-growing, private equity–backed environmental services platform based in Upstate New York. They provide specialized environmental, industrial, and waste management services to industrial customers across the Northeast. This role works closely with field teams and customers to deliver safe, high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Role overview

The Project Manager is responsible for the health and safety, scope, schedule, and financial performance of assigned projects and service work. This individual serves as a key liaison between customers, field operations, and internal teams, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and to a high standard. The role reports to the VP of Operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert supporting environmental services projects, including waste management, industrial cleaning, emergency response, remediation, and related services
  • Own project delivery from initiation through closeout, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality control
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and logistics with operations teams
  • Actively participate in and promote the company’s health and safety program
  • Maintain regular customer communication and provide updates on progress, site conditions, and scope changes
  • Support business development efforts through estimating, proposal development, and participation in “get work” activities
  • Prepare estimates and proposals for select projects, primarily unit-rate and service-based scopes
  • Implement pricing controls and manage change orders
  • Perform routine financial analysis and track project performance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
  • Identify risks and issues early and implement solutions in collaboration with operations leadership
  • Provide consistent reporting to operations management

Qualifications and experience

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the environmental services industry
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • General understanding of DOT regulations
  • Familiarity with waste treatment, emergency response, industrial cleaning, and remediation technologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint or similar systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Structured, analytical approach to problem solving
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to build strong relationships with customers and internal teams
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, sales, health and safety, and external vendors

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $100,000–$150,000 annually, dependent on experience, technical background, and scope of responsibility
