Salary: $56,536 - 56,536 per year Requirements:

• A high school diploma along with four years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in analyzing various processes and service measures.
• Experience with SQL Server, PostgresSQL, and Excel exports such as CSV files for importing.
• Familiarity with Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) concepts.
• Preferred experience working with legacy operating systems; experience in large-scale data conversion efforts, particularly those involving data discovery tasks.
• Strong analytical skills and critical thinking to employ investigative techniques for information gathering and review.
• Proficient computer skills, including accurate keyboard use and intermediate knowledge of various computer applications and databases. Proficiency in tools such as eTowrs, FTS, FLS, FID, ECM, and Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
• Understanding of ATF’s mission and approved processes, including familiarity with firearm serialization, manufacturer details, caliber, type, and model.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize SQL Server extensively for data processing, determining the best methods for data extraction using tools like Cogniview or Full Convert by Spectral Core.
• Import extracted files into SQL Server, ensuring adherence to ATF standard column names and positioning.
• Conduct a data validation process to maintain data integrity, ensuring aspects like leading zeros are preserved during the import.
• If necessary, develop custom programs or scripts to reformat data for the final load process.
• Maintain documentation of file outputs throughout the processing lifecycle for verification of successful loading.
• Validate exported files from SQL Server to ensure column names correspond with the target ATF system known as ECM.
• Transfer finalized files to the Media Specialist II to commence image creation for the ECM system.

The National Tracing Center Division's mission is to conduct accurate and efficient firearms tracing for federal, state, local, and international law enforcement agencies, ultimately providing vital investigative leads. As part of this initiative, the Junior ETL Developer will follow established methods to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources, adjusting formats as necessary and collaborating with software tools throughout the process.

We encourage self-starters who are quick adaptors in a fast-paced environment, possess strong time management skills, and can communicate effectively as a team player. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds and a keen attention to detail. A college degree is preferred, though a high school diploma with relevant experience is also acceptable. Experience in programming within a SQL Server context is desirable, as is familiarity with SQL programming concepts.
