Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals in a variety of settings, including teaching hospitals and higher education environments. This position requires a commitment to patient welfare, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.

Duties

• Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
• Monitor and record patient vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
• Help implement care plans developed by nursing staff and contribute to the ongoing assessment of patient needs.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a positive environment.
• Assist with mobility and transport of patients within the facility.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and common areas.
• Utilize learning technology platforms such as Blackboard for educational purposes when applicable.
• Collaborate with nursing administration to ensure adherence to health regulations and standards.
• Engage in research initiatives related to patient care practices when opportunities arise.

Requirements

Each theory and clinical instructor shall:

A) Be a registered nurse with a minimum of two years of nursing experience;

B) Have successfully completed a Department-sponsored Approved Evaluator Workshop prior to initial approval for Associate's Degree and diploma RNs only. Nurses with a BSN or higher are exempt from this requirement.

C) Have one year of experience as a nurse in one or both of the following areas:

i) Teaching theory in an accredited nurse training program; or

ii) Providing nursing care, including personal care and activities of daily living, to older adults or for chronically ill adults

.3) Only approved clinical and approved theory instructors shall be used.

4) Each theory course instructor and each clinical instructor who possesses only an Associate's Degree or diploma in nursing must complete a Department-approved TrainPrevious experience working with students or in a teaching hospital setting is preferred.

• Familiarity with care plans and the ability to follow them accurately is essential.
• Strong understanding of adult education principles is beneficial for training purposes.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective interaction with patients and staff.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply them in a healthcare setting.
• A genuine passion for providing patient-centered care and supporting individuals in their health journeys.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development through participation in training sessions or workshops related to nursing practices.
