Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Veterinarian to provide high-quality medical care to a variety of animal species. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of animal diseases, as well as advising on animal health and welfare. This role involves working closely with animal care teams, veterinary technicians, and, where applicable, research or regulatory staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform physical exams, diagnostics, medical treatments, and surgical procedures as needed
  • Provide routine and emergency veterinary care to animals under clinical care
  • Contributes to the strategic planning and development of the Animal Research Program and facilities
  • Manages the veterinary and laboratory animal care staff in the Center for Comparative Physiology
  • Budgeting and oversight of the Center for Comparative Physiology (CCP) facilities
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with animal welfare standards, institutional protocols, and regulatory guidelines (e.g. USDA, AAALAC, IACUC where applicable)
  • Collaborate with other veterinarians and animal care staff to design and implement health management plans
  • Advise clients, researchers, or staff on animal health, nutrition, preventive medicine, and biosecurity
  • Participate in continuing education and stay current with veterinary best practices and advancements
  • Train or supervise veterinary technicians, interns, or animal care staff as needed

Qualification

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VM D) from an accredited institution
  • Licensure to practice veterinary medicine
  • Experience with small and/or large animal
  • [Preferred] Experience in a clinical, research, or lab animal setting
  • Strong diagnostic, surgical, and communication skill
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
