Job Summary:

The Client Accounting Services Senior Associate will be responsible for delivering hands-on accounting support to a diverse portfolio of clients, managing day-to-day transactional work, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. As a key team member, you will also play an essential role in fostering client relationships and supporting internal collaboration within the CAS department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Client-Facing Responsibilities

  • Serve as a direct point of contact for assigned clients, building strong, trust-based relationships
  • Maintain regular communication with clients via phone and email to ensure needs are being met
  • Provide timely responses and professional support for client questions and accounting inquiries
  • Educate clients on best practices and assist in implementing improvements when needed 

Accounting & Compliance Functions 

  • Record financial transactions accurately in alignment with each client’s chart of accounts
  • Manage daily accounts payable activity, including invoice entry and payment scheduling
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data
  • Prepare and file sales tax reports in compliance with state and local requirements
  • Complete the annual 1099 filings and ensure deadlines are met
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes including:

Journal entry preparation

Balance sheet account reconciliations

Financial report generation

Team & Process Support 

  • Collaborate with CAS team members along with the tax and assurance department to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery
  • Identify and troubleshoot accounting issues, escalating as needed to management
  • Contribute to process improvements and standardization efforts within the department
  • Participate in continuing education initiatives related to accounting standards and technology tools
  • Stay up to date with industry’s best practices, software updates (e.g., QuickBooks), and firm procedures
  • Possess a deep understanding of all Stonehenge products and services, with the ability to identify opportunities for clients to benefit from additional offerings.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to make and support decisions regarding accounting
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • QuickBooks experience
  • Thomson Reuters suite of programs (Ultra Tax, Depreciation, GFR, Practice)
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel 

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or relevant field (preferred)
