Job Description

Black Diamond Coatings (BDC) is a veteran- and family-owned manufacturer of premium, environmentally friendly products for the home improvement industry. The Chief of Staff is a mission-critical, high-impact role that serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the President and CEO. This individual will operate as an extension of the President — empowered to make decisions, manage high-priority initiatives, and represent the President in key interactions.

As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Chief of Staff will drive strategy, ensure operational excellence, and champion BDC’s culture of accountability, competitive spirit, and continuous improvement. The role requires exceptional judgment, resilience, and leadership presence, with the ability to thrive in complexity and balance strategic vision with flawless execution.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

Strategic Leadership & Execution

• Partner with the President to translate vision into actionable strategies that drive growth and performance.

• Provide insights through market research, financial analysis, and competitive intelligence.

• Identify opportunities and risks, recommending decisive actions that position the company for long-term success.

• Champion the company’s “A Player” culture, ensuring alignment across all levels of the organization.

Enterprise Project Leadership

• Lead and oversee mission-critical initiatives (e.g., warehouse updates, customer compliance, hiring and onboarding improvements).

• Develop and execute project plans with clear milestones, accountability, and risk mitigation strategies.

• Drive cross-functional collaboration, ensuring urgency and flawless execution.

Executive Partnership & Decision Support

• Serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to the President, offering candid feedback and recommendations.

• Manage executive priorities to keep the President focused on high-impact opportunities.

• Represent the President in meetings, communications, and decision-making with full authority when required.

Confidentiality & Integrity

• Exercise the highest level of discretion with sensitive business, financial, and personnel matters.

• Implement secure protocols for information handling and executive communications.

Communication & Influence

• Ensure clear, consistent communication between leadership, departments, and external stakeholders.

• Build strong, trust-based relationships with senior leaders, board members, clients, and partners.

• Influence without authority to achieve alignment and accountability.

Organizational Leadership

• Provide mentorship to staff, developing high-performing future leaders.

• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Special Initiatives & Problem Solving

• Take ownership of special projects assigned by the President.

• Tackle complex challenges with creativity, resourcefulness, and sound judgment.

• Deliver actionable solutions that advance company objectives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field.

• 7+ years of experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

• Proven experience as a Chief of Staff, Operations Leader, or senior-level EA with project management responsibilities.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and creatively.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and CRM systems.

• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.

• PMP certification preferred; MBA a plus.

• Experience in home improvement, manufacturing, or eCommerce industries preferred.
