Job Description

Sierra Executive Solutions, Inc. (SES) is a 3rd party search firm recruiting for a Carson City's casino/hotel property General Manager role to replace a long term incumbent who is now retiring! Exciting time for the ideal candidate to join and create a new chapter, be a respected successor, legacy, and be the next long-term employer leader with an established casino/hotel property!

The property includes a Casino, Hotel, RV Park (30 and 50 amp hookups), bowling alley arcade, 3-meal café restaurant, and a center bar. This is a very popular local spot with a consistent and growing flow of patrons/guests.

The Casino includes over 350 slots and table games including Blackjack, Craps, Pai Gow Progressive, and 3-card Poker. The beautiful hotel has 82 newly renovated rooms, plus conference space, a pool and fitness center.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The General Manager is a key strategic position which reports to the VP of Operations and is responsible for the property’s overall operating activities. This includes revenue growth, expense, cost and margin control, and monthly, quarterly and annual financial goal management. Leadership duties may be added or eliminated from the current list as business needs dictate.

Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintain a high quality of guest service according company Mission Statement and F.A.S.T. Track Values Statement.
  • Establish financial and profitability goals through the property’s annual operation and capital plan process.
  • Implements strategic plans and processes to meet budget, other financial goals and other related goals in all operating departments.
  • Direct short-term and long-range planning and budget development to support strategic business goals for all operating departments.
  • Exerts a consistent and effective leadership for the achievement of current and long-range company plans.
  • Assess operations and strategies of current and future competitor companies in the markets in which the property operates.
  • Ensure adherence to Gaming Regulations.
  • Regular attendance and arriving on time to all scheduled shifts and mandatory meetings.
  • Actively builds and maintains customer relations and acts as a mentor to employees in order to provide superior customer service.
  • Hires, motivates, and directs managers in order to ensure that employees receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established objectives.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable Company and departmental policies and procedures as well as the willingness to learn and follow any policy or procedure that may be introduced in the future.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with guest, fellow Employees, and Vendors.
  • Ability to accept performance feedback in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Education and Other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field along is required along with 5+ years of progressive responsibility in gaming and hotel general management.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to delegate responsibility in pursuit of common goals.
  • Ability to read and analyze financial and non-financial reports to reach informed decisions.
  • Thorough knowledge of all facets of the gaming business
  • Thorough knowledge of general business practices and strategic planning
