Barista – Check N’ Play

Location: Check N’ Play – Brea Mall, CA

Compensation: $21 - $24 per hour (based on experience with specialty drinks) + tips Job

Type: Part-time & Full-time available (Positions start in July 2025)

Must be 21+ (Future Beer & Wine Service Planned)

We’re looking for a passionate, experienced, and engaging Barista to join our team, someone who takes pride in their craft and thrives in a dynamic, high-energy setting. This is not your average coffee shop gig—this is a role where hospitality, creativity, and precision come together to create something extraordinary. 

What You'll Do

• Craft exceptional beverages – Brew high-quality espresso-based drinks, teas, and seasonal specialty beverages with precision and artistry. 
• Deliver a premium customer experience – Engage warmly with customers, anticipate their needs, and build connections that make Check N’ Play a destination. 
• Maintain a top-tier café environment – Keep the space clean, organized, and stocked while ensuring that every drink meets our quality standards. 
• Educate & inspire – Share your passion for coffee and specialty drinks, guiding customers through our menu and making personalized recommendations. 
• Support daily café operations – Assist with register transactions, food preparation, stocking, and opening/closing duties. 
• Adapt and elevate – Embrace our evolving beverage program, including the eventual introduction of beer and wine service, and maintain responsible alcohol service (once licensed). 

What We’re Looking For 

• Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty coffee or craft beverage service – You know your way around an espresso machine and can pour a solid latte art. 
• Passion for hospitality & customer service – A friendly, outgoing personality with the ability to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. 
• Strong work ethic & attention to detail – Consistency and quality are key in our café. 
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment – Whether it’s a busy weekend morning or a special event, you can handle the rush with grace. 
• Team player mentality – We thrive on collaboration and support each other to create an amazing experience for our guests. 
• 21+ years of age – Required due to our future beer and wine service. 
• Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). 

Bonus points if you have: 

• Experience with third-wave coffee techniques (single-origin espresso, pour-overs, etc.). 
• Knowledge of alternative milks, specialty ingredients, or wellness-driven beverages. 
• Prior experience in a café, bar, or hospitality setting.
