About the Role

The Assistant Principal of Academics (APA) will possess an ambitious vision for academic excellence, an appreciation for systems that support student success, a culturally responsive mindset, and a commitment to collaboration with all stakeholders. The APA will create and maintain a robust academic culture that promotes growth, resilience, accountability, and achievement for all students through data-driven practices. Additionally, the AP will work with parents/families and school counselors to support the academic development of all students. Lastly, the AP will be a leader and integral contributor to the day-to-day operations of the school. Through distinguished and meaningful work, the APA will be a member of a high-functioning, vibrant founding team that fulfills the mission and vision of Cristo Rey Miami High School to ensure the college and career preparation of all students.

Responsibilities

• School Leadership
• Provides high-impact instructional coaching to a portfolio of teachers, including weekly observations and feedback.
• Ensures rigorous, objective-driven, and culturally relevant lessons are occurring.
• Oversees data inventory collection and strategically collaborates with stakeholders to create action plans.
• Oversees academic support practices, including, but not limited to academic tutoring and grade/credit recovery.
• Oversees student attendance and collaborates with guidance counselor if action plans are needed.
• Oversees student behavior issues and collaborates with guidance counselor if disciplinary action is needed.
• Oversees weekly D and F reports and communicates with students and parents to discuss action plans.
• Collaborates with principal and faculty to develop and maintain a rigorous college preparatory academic program.
• Collaborates with principal to provide meaningful professional learning and development opportunities.
• Collaborates with technology department to maximize EdTech use to enhance learning experiences for students.
• Collaborates with school leadership in the planning and execution of the Summer Success Institute.
• Collaborates with school leadership to ensure virtual, in-person, and hybrid lessons are executed as needed.
• Coordinates substitute teachers as needed.
• Participates fully in Cristo Rey Network initiatives and professional development.
• Integrates and follows Cristo Rey Network benchmarks and Florida Sunshine State Standards when collaborating with annual, unit, and lesson plans.
• Works closely and effectively with parents/families and school counselors in the support and development of students’ academic needs.
• Continuously builds relationships with students to ensure a culture of respect and rapport with all.
• Assists executive leadership team with other duties as assigned.
